The challenge
Most space frame structures consist of hollow sections forming the bars and hollow spheres forming the nodes which are connected by bolts. The necessity to install a sprinkler system or to attach electrical wiring often visually spoils the austere geometric order of the load-bearing space frame. How can these secondary technical systems be integrated into the bars and nodes of the space frame?
The invention
The RES-Media-Conducting Space Frame provides hollow nodes, hollow bars and hollow bolts as well as seal rings to integrate e.g. a sprinkler system into the space frame. Accordingly a heating and cooling circuit can be integrated into the space frame to provide a low-temperature heating system.
The advantages
- Multiple use for a load-bearing structure
- Saving of separate pipeline systems
The applications
- Especially suited for wide-span structures
- Industrial and municipal buildings
